Happy St. Patrick’s Day friends! It seems that after Valentine’s Day everybody skips to Easter. Why!?! Easter is an amazing holiday but what about St. Patrick’s Day! We get to trap leprechauns, wear green or get pinched, eat Lucky Charms in all different types of way, and eat lots of corned beef/ potatoes! Pretty awesome holiday, right?

Thalia is now a feisty 3 years old who understands so so much! I started reading leprechaun books to her and she loved it! She now “sees” leprechauns in our backyard, which is a cute and terrifying thing haha. She has enjoyed doing all of our St. Patrick’s Day activities. Kailani is still a little (big) baby who is just excited to play with her sissy and eat food. I am sure next year she is going to love this holiday as much as we do. Here are a couple things we have done to celebrate this wonderful (and scary because leprechauns) holiday.

Fruit Loop Rainbow Necklace

This was such a hit! I just got a piece of string, gold balloon string, and fruit loops! I bought all materials at Dollar Tree! I had Thalia arrange the fruit loops by color into different bowls. This took a while for her to do which means I got to sit back and relax. Then I got the string and taped one side to the table so the fruit loops wouldn’t fall off and she started to put the string through the hole. After she finished I added gold balloon string to represent the pot of gold. After I took her picture she ate her rainbow necklace and asked for more. This is a great activity to do year round because it takes the kiddos a while to do and, of course, it helps with their motor skills.

Materials Used: String, gold balloon string, tape, and Fruit Loops.

Leprechaun Trap

I bought the cutest leprechaun book this month. It is called How to Catch a Leprechaun by Adam Wallace. The whole book is about this clever little leprechaun who simply can not get caught no matter how extravagant the traps. My 3 year old daughter fell in LOVE with this book. Right away she wanted to build a trap. I got an old Kodiak pancake mix box and started cutting and gluing. I helped with most of it but Thalia was able to stick all the decorations on. I got a small green chili can and painted it black to use as the pot of gold. I got all my materials at the Dollar Tree (surprised?). There is so so much cute and fun stuff there! Thalia is head over heels with this trap. She wakes up and runs to the trap to see if the leprechaun was caught.

Materials Used: Cardboard box, 2 toilet paper rolls, pipe cleaners, moss, popsicle sticks, colored paper, glue, string, small tin can, gold coins, glitter coins and clovers….

Lucky Charms Marshmallow Bars

Get a large pot put it on the stove on medium and start melting the butter and marshmallows. Next add the Lucky Charms (side note: leave cute Lucky Charms out so after you finish you can add to the top and it wont be melted) and stir until it’s ooey gooey. After put the mixture into a greased 9×9 baking dish and let it cool. THAT’S IT! You did it! I usually put the leftovers (if there is any) inside a ziplock and straight into my pantry so it’s easy access for my midnight snack. I added sour punch straws to make a darling rainbow, it looks extra cute! This is such a fun and simple way to celebrate this holiday. It’s easy enough that the kiddos can help and it’s yummy enough for the whole family to enjoy!

Ingredients: 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, 1 10 ounce bag mini marshmallows, 7 cups of Lucky Charms.

Hand Painted Rainbow

Super simple and creative way to teach your kiddos about colors! My 3 year old loved getting paint on her hand, as for my 11 month old, she did not! You can have the hand prints curve so it looks like an actual rainbow. I could not do that because it was enough work getting the girls hand to open up on my direction haha! I used black construction paper to cut the pot, but you can always paint in the black pot. I love doing this craft at the beginning of the month that way I can hang it up in my kitchen and look at it daily until I put them in their memory box.

Shamrock Ravioli Dinner

Shout out to Costco for stocking up on all sorts of adorable and easy foods for St. Patrick’s Day! This year we decided to eat these darling shamrock ravioli instead of corned beef and I have zero regrets! 2 pack of 30 ravioli’s for $9.99, you cant beat that! I just knew my 3 year old would be obsessed with them and she was. I just boiled a pot of water, put my ravioli’s in and dinner was ready in 10 minutes. I added some spring mix, olives, and pieces of sausage and dinner was ready!

I have always loved being festive but having children to share the fun is so much more magical. I know it can be tiring to do extra things when we already have so much to do, but trust me, it is worth it. Chase the radiance with your children. The magic your children will see and feel IS ALL WORTH It. I hope you enjoyed this post and plan on celebrating like us!

XOXOXO, Rudyko Taylor
